Best local mail-tool ever! Been using it for 2 years now and still going strong. Does all the things a tool like this is supposed to do and nothing more: just the way I like it.

Does what it says. Very nice tool. I've seen crashes when I leave it running (overnight after a late test), but is no surprise. Per other reviews I plan to try papercut which seems to have more recent activity and has XAML UI. http://papercut.codeplex.com/

Nice SMTP server for developers. Quick to install and implement. I used smtp4dev 2.0.9 for a php email project. The application queues emails and gives detail on the message body. It also has options to adjust queue size, inspect message, and balloon notifications. You can adjust server settings like port, SSL and domain. The developer Robert Wood even threw in a check for updates option.

Excellent app to test mailing locally.

This app has served me well for some years, but recently it has been crashing since I started using Ruby on Rails (and ActionMailer) - since it has not been updated in a couple of years, I recommend you take a look at Papercut instead, which is basically the same thing: https://papercut.codeplex.com/

Great little tool, simple to get up and running and works so well. I've tried a few other local smtp replacements and wish I found this first (Doh!).

Fantastic utility! I recommend it a lot to colleagues. It should be built-in to Visual Studio 2012. Thanks for this great community contribution!

Just what I was looking for, this is great. The GUI is spot on, and the possibility for using this in integration tests is very useful.

Great application to get around the Windows 7 64 bit SMTP woes! Much appreciated!
by bstalte on Jan 11, 2012 at 6:32 PM

Great tool which does exactly what I needed it to do. Downloaded and running in (literally) seconds, allowing me to see the emails being generated from a local development copy of a website without modifying anything in the site's code. If you develop applications or websites which send emails of any nature - this is a great tool. Just one question, where's the 'donate' link...? :)

Our apps send a lot of notification emails for workflow. This is a great improvement over having debug email settings baked into the application.

I don't develop email applications that often. However, when I do, this is a great asset.
